The basics
What a multiple line graph is, and when to use one.
A multiple line graph draws one line per series on shared axes, so you can compare trends directly. With two series it's often called a double line graph.
Lightchart colors each series from your palette, adds a legend when you need one, and lets you recolor or label lines one by one so the line that matters stands out.
- Comparing one metric across products, plans or regions over time.
- Actual vs target, or this year vs last year.
- Showing how two related measures move together.
- Up to about four or five lines. Past that, accent one and mute the rest.

Frequently asked questions
What is a double line graph?
A line graph with two lines on the same axes, used to compare two series over the same period.
How many lines is too many?
Past four or five lines, most charts get hard to read. Accent one or two and mute the rest, or split them into separate charts on one card.
Can each line use a different unit?
Not on one chart, because Lightchart doesn't do dual axes. Put two charts side by side on the same card instead.
Is this multiple line graph maker free?
Yes. Lightchart is free while in beta, with no credit card and no trial countdown. Make as many charts as you need and export them as PNGs.
